Master's Mix
Supplies
- Filter patch grow bags (0.5 micron)
- Hardwood fuel pellets
- Soy hull pellets
Process
- In each bag, mix the following ingredients:
- 1 lb / 454 g hardwood fuel pellets
- 1 lb / 454 g soy hull pellets
- 3 lb / 1361 g warm water
- Wipe around the edges and fold gusset down with filter patch facing out. Push air out
- Seal bag and slit for venting
- Sterilize bag in a pressure cooker at 15 psi for 2.5-3 hours
- For Presto:
- Use 3 quarts of water
- Make sure to elevate bags off the water level (use three small jars)
- Put a plate on top of bags to weigh down and prevent inflation
- Let cool down naturally and seal or leave overnight without opening the pressure cooker when done to avoid bags bursting.
- For All American:
- Place the inner container rack on the bottom rack and load up to 8 bags in the main chamber (no inner container)
- Lay the vent tube on top of the bags so that it’s not cinched and at the top of the PC
- For Presto:
- Inoculate each bag with ¼ lb grain spawn in SC (4 bags / qt jar or 12 bags / 3 lb bag) or impulse seal for later use
- Inflate with flow hood air and impulse seal the bag in SC
- Shake bag to distribute grains evenly throughout
- Incubate substrate for around 2 weeks until fully colonized, then fruit
