Extraction

Our process for a potent full spectrum extract

Phase 1: Water Extraction

Target Compounds: Beta-glucans & other polysaccharides

We begin by immersing our in-house grown dried and ground mushroom fruiting bodies in warm water and exposing them to powerful ultrasonic waves.

This ultrasonic-assisted extraction breaks down the tough cell walls of the mushrooms and allows the medicinal beta glucans and other water-soluble polysaccharides to be drawn out.

The water extraction is then concentrated in a vacuum still to increase the potency.

Phase 2: Ethanol Extraction

Target Compounds: Diterpenes, triterpenes &
other nonpolar compounds

Next, we perform a similar ultrasonic-assisted extraction, this time using ethanol as the solvent.

This step targets the diterpenes and triterpenes that are responsible for most of the unique effects of each mushroom we work with.

This extract is also concentrated to our desired potency, resulting in more active compounds in the final product.

Phase 3: Concentration

With both of our extractions complete, we concentrate the resulting liquids using a vacuum still in order to achieve the desired potency.

The vacuum still allows us to evaporate the ethanol or water from the extract at a low temperature, leaving behind the compounds for our use.

We concentrate the alcohol extract until it reaches the consistency of an oil, at which point the amount of alcohol left behind is negligible. This is what allows us to make our extracts alcohol-free.

The water extract concentrated until it’s about 25% of its initial volume, at which point it’s ready to be used in our liquid extract formula.

Phase 4: Combination & Formulation

We then combine the oil from the ethanol extract and the concentrated water extract with vegetable glycerin in the proper ratio to result in a shelf stable product containing the full spectrum of medicinal compounds that our mushrooms have to offer.

Natural flavorings are added to some of our extracts to ensure that our extracts aren’t just potent, but also a pleasure to take.
